Digital Media SIG to Launch in 2011

The SDForum Virtual World SIG (special interest group) was piloted and launched way back in 2006, with a charter to “bring together the developers, programmers, and visionaries required to build virtual world platforms and their interconnected applications”.

Along the way companies have been founded, funded, and connected with talent through the SIG in just the way we envisioned.  Through the years the concepts and strategies around virtual worlds have morphed and expanded, and the community has as well.

To kick off the new year, I’m thrilled to announce that the Virtual World SIG will expand its agenda of topics as SDForum’s new Digital Media SIG.

The room will be the same size, but the topics and audience will be a lot broader. We may need more pizza. Get ready to meet a lot of new faces in 2011! This is going to be fun.

Digital Media SIG to launch in 2011 (previously Virtual Worlds)
The coming years will see new digital media channels, devices, and modes of interaction emerge from the buildout of the past decade. The question now moves to which opportunities and models will thrive in this new ecosystem. A generation has grown up digital, and the game is increasingly social. New platforms are mobile, new currencies are virtual, and the reality has been augmented. Where are the best investments of time and money for digital media in the social age? Spot the talent and projects that will reshape the territory in ways we haven’t yet though of. Have your own ideas about the future of digital media? This will be the perfect platform to deliver your pitch. Join the conversation quarterly beginning February 28 at Pillsbury Winthrop in Palo Alto.
